The University of Houston began to finalize some of its future non-conference football schedules Tuesday, agreeing to a two-game home-and-home series with Arizona.
UH will travel to Tucson, Ariz., to play the Wildcats in 2017. The Wildcats will make their first trip to Houston in 2018.
The two programs have met only twice. UH won 34-17 in 1969 and Arizona claimed a 37-3 victory in 1986.
“Our department is committed to scheduling quality non-conference opponents and this type of matchup is one that rewards both our team and our fans,” said Mack Rhoades, UH’s vice president for intercollegiate athletics. “Not only are these non-conference games exciting for our fans, but they are exciting for college football. Our plan is to continue to schedule home-and-home series with a number of high-profile teams in the future.”
